Hello! My name is Sally, your Virtual Surrogacy Intake Manager from Conceptual Options, and I want to welcome you to our very own Surrogacy Educational Video Series. We know that you came here to learn more about surrogacy, so let’s get started by explaining what to expect at your Surrogate Psychological Evaluation Appointment with Conceptual Options.

After you have successfully completed your pre-screen with our Surrogate Intake Team, you will be scheduled for your Surrogacy Intake and Psychological Evaluation appointments. If you are local to our office, this appointment will take place the same day as your Surrogacy Intake Appointment. The entire appointment will take 3-4 hours to complete, along with an in-person meeting with our Conceptual Options’ Licensed Psychologist.

For our out of town surrogates, this appointment will take place separately from your surrogate intake appointment, as you will be flown into San Diego, at no expense to you, for one day only.

The psychological evaluation is one of the most important aspects in your surrogacy journey as it lets us, the Intended Parents, and yourself know if you are ready for the next step as a Surrogate Candidate. Remember, your Surrogacy Intake and Psychological Evaluation Appointment is your chance to find out if surrogacy is right for you and your family and to get a chance to meet our Conceptual Options’ family in a stress-free and caring environment—and without any obligation.

For the psychological aspect of your appointment, we split the evaluation into two parts. The first part is the psychological testing, where you will be taking several psychological tests looking at your personality and current mental health. The second part is the meeting with our psychologist who will be asking about your medical and personal history, as well as your current life situation. This will help our psychologist get a full picture of you, rather than relying on only tests to tell us who you are.

We know that participating in a psychological evaluation can be a bit intimidating, but there is no need to stress. The tests and the interview are all questions are about you, your personality, experiences you have had, and how you view the world. The goal of the evaluation is to make sure that you have the personality characteristics that will help you have a healthy and enjoyable surrogacy experience. We just want to be sure that surrogacy is right for each and every one of our surrogates.
