Vodafone Idea has received relief that improves its near-term survival, but the bigger challenges remain unresolved. While the company can generate nearly ₹10,000 crore in EBITDA and prepare for 4G and 5G CapEx, its total debt still stands at around ₹2 lakh crore.
The market was expecting an AGR waiver on interest and penalties, which did not materialize—leading to disappointment and stock volatility. Experts believe Vodafone needs a strong strategic equity investor rather than tariff hikes, which could risk subscriber losses.
With Jio and Bharti Airtel continuing to gain market share, Vodafone is likely to remain the weaker player despite relief. At current levels, the stock appears to have priced in most positives, with Bharti Airtel still preferred within the telecom space.
