This exclusive cigar is quite popular with cigar smokers and anyone looking to make a quick buck by selling fakes. This cigar is intended by Habanos SA to be exclusively sold at La Casa del Habano stores. They don't want anyone but LCDH selling these cigars. But that's unfortunately not the case and often times we end up smoking an overpriced piece of crap with a band that looks similar to the one in this video. This double banded cigar is a great cigar that's often duplicated by unscrupulous business people.
If you ever visit Cuba, they confirm what I've been writing here all along: in the USA, the FAKE Cuban Cigar market is much bigger than the real one. They estimate that 80% of cigars sold in USA claiming to be authentic Cubans are FAKE. I'll take that a step further, I believe the percentage is a lot close to, if not more than 90%. There are so many fakes being sold. Not just in the continental US, but in the Caribbean, and even in Havana, Cuba of all places. Cuba has a huge problem with counterfeiters, so much so that they check tourists at the airport. If you're a tourist leaving Cuba with cigars, the officials at the airports check to make sure you purchased your stogies from authorized vendors. If they find that you bought cigars on the streets or from any individual other than an authorized retailer, say "good bye" to those cigars because they are getting confiscated. That's right- you have to buy from Habanos authorized retailers or your purchases get seized by airport officials.
It's so tempting too. Imagine your chilling in Havana and some guy that's been your tour guide the whole time tells you he knows a place where you can buy authentic Cuban cigars. He doesn't tell you that those cigars can and probably will get confiscated at the airport. You believe him too because he's been so nice to you the whole trip- he can't do no wrong. How could you possibly not believe that his cousin works as a roller in the Cohiba factory and sneaks boxes of cigars out the back door because that's his side hustle?
But the truth is, it's not his cousin that's sneaking boxes out the back door. It's not any of his relatives. It's a huge counterfeit industry that preys on unsuspecting tourists who don't know any better and end up with cigars that are subject to seizure. Nobody sneaks anything out the backdoor in Cuba. Cigars are Cuba's most important export. Nobody is willing to hang for sneaking boxes of cigars. What they do sneak out the backdoor is actually leftover scraps headed for the trash. They take scraps of tobacco leaves that are being thrown in the garbage back home to aunt Milly who knows how to roll a cigar. She opens up the garbage bag of trash and starts rolling your cigar using scraps that were thrown away because those scraps did not make the cut into the cigars meant to be sold at AUTHENTIC Habanos Cuban Cigars.
Mixed in with that trash are some other very undesirable matter that I won't get into. But I hope you understand what I mean by "undesirable". So even though a Communist Dictatorship regime benefits from you buying legit Cuban cigars, it's still better than smoking fake and literal trash.
