our top rescue of 2025 has to be this beautiful and rare (especially in a rescue capacity) NIGHTJAR!!!
Found in a carpark in Belfast, hiding behind some bins, this stunning and secretive bird had tried to find somewhere safe to hide. We suspect it had banged into a window as they fly at night being nocturnal, and was abit stunned.
thankfully after checking it had suffered no injuries and after a rest and some food it was released over the Belfast hills where it could see a large expanse of land, get its GPS kicked back in and get back on its migration route south to South Africa.
What a stunning little bird and such a privilege to see and help back on its way.
