Описание: The epistles encourage believers to seek to grow to maturity in our New Covenant At-One-Ment. Spiritual growth is analogous to natural growth. A human is fully human at conception, yet there is continual growth to maturity over time. Our New Covenant At-One-Ment, then, has nothing to do with religious notions of seeking to get closer to God. The Apostle John affirms that those in Christ have all of Christ there is to have: “For of His fullness we have all received” (John 1:16a). Yet he goes on to describe further growth in our New Covenant relationships and our participatory transformation into the image of Christ as “grace upon grace” (John 1:16b). In this first part of Chapter 17, we’ll look to see how sometimes our English language translations miss the sense of progress in maturity seen in the Hebrew language and culture.
