Описание: A pro-Palestine activist disrupted chancellor of the exchequer Rachel Reeves’ speech at the Labour party’s conference in Liverpool, unfurling a Palestine flag and criticising the government’s complicity in Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza.

The activist, who gave his name as Sam P, shouted “after two years of genocide, mass starvation of Palestinians…” before being removed from the hall.

The disruption was planned by the Palestinian Youth Movement and London for a Free Palestine, campaign groups calling for a full UK arms embargo on Israel, an end to RAF surveillance flights over Gaza, the resignation of Labour’s leadership, and the termination of Britain’s diplomatic ties with Israel.

It also follows the suppression of over 30 Palestine-related motions at this year’s conference, and the imposition of new rules limiting attendance for Labour members with under a year of party membership.

Sam P said: “It’s unbearable to watch this British-backed genocide unfolding while Labour carries on with business as usual.”

Reeves responded by saying: “We understand your cause, and we are recognising a Palestinian state. But we are now a party in government, not a party of protest.”
