Описание: The city of Tulum was built by the Maya on a rock, just above the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea.
In its heyday, the buildings of Tulum stretched along the coast for almost 6 km.
Tulum was surrounded on 3 sides by a huge limestone defensive wall, almost 750 m long and 6-7 m thick, which protected the city from the land side (from the sea side the safety was ensured by a high cliff and a coral reef).

There were 5 gates leading to the city, and the guards constantly guarded the area from the height of two observation towers - Torre de Guardia located at the corners of the wall - on the north-west and south-west sides.

Miasto Tulum Majowie wznieśli na skale, tuż nad turkusowymi wodami Morza Karaibskiego.
W czasach świetności budowle Tulum ciągnęły się wzdłuż wybrzeża na długości niemal 6 km.
Tulum było otoczone z 3 stron potężnym wapiennym murem obronnym o długości prawie 750 m i grubości 6-7 m, który ochraniał miasto od strony lądu (od strony morza bezpieczeństwo zapewniał bowiem wysoki klif i rafa koralowa).

Do miasta prowadziło 5 bram, strażnicy zaś stale pilnowali okolicy z wysokości dwóch wież obserwacyjnych - Torre de Guardia położonych w narożnikach muru – po stronie północno-zachodniej i południowo-zachodniej.
