Ever look at your old Legacy Burn or Delver deck and wish you could still play it without getting crushed in a competitive tournament? Welcome to Legacy Commander League (LCL)—the 60-card multiplayer format where your old favorites get a second life.
In this video, I break down why LCL is the perfect middle ground for players who love the power level of Legacy but crave the social, high-life-total fun of Commander.
📜 The LCL Ruleset at a Glance
LCL is designed to be fast, nostalgic, and flexible. Here is the breakdown:
Deck Size: 60 cards.
Copies: Up to 4 copies of any card (Legacy-style).
Commander: 1 Legendary Creature (starts in the Command Zone).
Color Identity: IGNORED. Your deck doesn’t have to match your Commander’s colors.
Life Total: 40 Life / 21 Commander Damage.
Ban List: "Don’t be a dick." (Keep it casual, keep it fun!)
🤝 Why You Should Try LCL
Traditional Commander is great, but 100-card singleton can be a headache to build. LCL lets you take a proven 60-card archetype, slap a "mascot" Commander on it, and jump straight into a 4-player pod. It’s faster, cheaper (if you already own the cards), and lets you play those powerful 4-of synergies that singleton formats forbid.
Join the conversation! What old deck do you have sitting in a box that you’d love to turn into an LCL deck? Let me know in the comments!
