Tout par compas suy composés,
en ceste rode proprement
pour moy chanter plus seurement.
Regarde com suy disposés
compaing, je te pri chierement.
Tout par compas suy composés,

Trois temps entiers par toy posés;
chacer me pues joyeusement,
s'en chantant as vray sentiment.

English Translation:

All with a compass am I composed,
properly, as befits a round
to sing me more surely.
Look how I am disposed,
companion, I pray you kindly.
All with a compass am I composed,

Three times my circumference enclosed;
you can chase me with joy,
if in singing you are true to me.

The original manuscript also includes three other shorter texts, which may also be set to the music. These texts not only give some clues as to how to realize this canon, but also some rare information about the composer's biography. Based on the tone of the text and its self referential nature, the verses seem to be written by the composer himself.
