Short abstract:
In prenatal medicine, ultrasound remains the primary tool for detecting structural abnormalities during fetal development. Fetal MRI complements ultrasound when sonographic soft markers appear altered. Recent advances in fetal MRI enable quantitative assessment of brain development, making it an ideal tool for studying fetal brain growth and function. Beyond routine T2-weighted imaging, advanced techniques such as atlas based techniques, DTI, mapping, BOLD, and spectroscopy allow a more personalized evaluation of fetal brain disorders. This talk provides an overview of individualized MRI applications aimed at improving diagnosis, prognosis, and counseling in early human life.
