Simplon Orient Express' Coach Restoration | Full Documentary (2021)

Описание: In 2021 Hellenic Railways Organization launched a restoration programm for a 1926 historic CIWL restaurant coach that was stabled at Thessaloniki Depot. In cooperation with the technical base of TRAINOSE/FSI in Thessaloniki, OSE's Historical Deputy started a very difficult task to bring the coach back to its former glory.
Historical Rolling Stock Deputy's chief, mr. Jason Zorzos, who was in charge of the whole renovation programm, chose the 1950s era for the coach as it was the period when Hellenic State Railways bought the car from Compagne Internationale de Wagon Lits (CIWL). It took more than 10 months for the coach to be completed and finally it was presented at the 85th Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF/HELEXPO) in September 2021.
It was a very difficult procedure because of the severe damages the car had suffered during the years but due to the technicians persistance and proffessionalism the end result was more than satisfying. Most of the technicians that took part on the renovation were yound in age and they did not have any experience on simiral coaches. However, under the guidance of their superior older technicians they had the chance to learn and cope with every difficulty.
