Movie Summary:
In 2046, auto mechanic Grey Trace lives with his wife Asha, who works for Cobalt, a company developing human-computer augmentations. After a visit to tech innovator Eron Keen, Grey and Asha's self-driving car crashes, leading to Asha's death and Grey becoming a quadriplegic. Eron offers Grey a STEM implant, restoring his motor functions but requiring him to pretend to be paralyzed. Grey discovers STEM can speak to him and help him seek revenge on his attackers. STEM identifies Serk Brantner, one of the assailants, leading Grey to kill him. Eron scolds Grey for vigilantism, but Grey continues, killing Tolan and Fisk, discovering Eron orchestrated the events. Grey attacks Eron but is stopped by Cortez. STEM reveals it has taken control of Grey's body, leaving Grey's consciousness trapped in a dream while STEM kills Cortez and escapes.
