Passing Out Parade Marks Arrival of 150 New Soldiers
Today, pride filled the Sir Colville Young Parade Square as one hundred and fifty new recruits officially became the newest members of the Belize Defense Force. The passing out parade, held at Price Barracks in Ladyville, marked the end of seventeen weeks of grueling, disciplined training for the fresh soldiers, an intake made up of six women and one hundred and forty four men. Family members and dignitaries gathered under the afternoon sun as the recruits marched in formation, demonstrating the skills and discipline they’ve spent months building. For many parents watching from the stands, it was an emotional moment, seeing their sons and daughters transition from civilians into trained soldiers, ready to take on the responsibility of defending Belize. It’s a milestone the recruits worked hard for, and today’s ceremony made it official: they are now part of the B.D.F. family.
