The country has been shocked by the Kerala Viral Video where a woman, Shimjitha alleged sexual abuse while traveling on a bus by Deepak, a man in his forties. As the video, shared by Shimjitha on her social media handles went viral, Deepak died by suicide the morning after his birthday. The video, since deleted, shows no evidence of harassment and appears to show Deepak's elbow lightly brush against the woman's clothes for a brief second. The woman has been arrested for abetment to suicide and was denied bail by a local court today. Barkha Dutt visited Deepak's house to meet his lonely and devastated parents. Later, she also spoke to young women at the Kerala Lit Fest in Kozhikode to get a sense of how women who genuinely face issues of violation on public transport are looking at this tragedy.
