Panel 3 explored the intersections of climate, science, art, and activism. The panel was chaired by Pádraig Murphy, Associate Professor in the DCU School of Communications.
Eileen Hutton of the Burren College of Art discussed the Art & Ecology Programme and its focus on deep connection to place, community engagement, and ecocritical practice. Alan James Burns reflected on access to nature for disabled people and the importance of inclusive approaches to climate action. Cathy Fitzgerald emphasised the role of language in bridging divides between art, science, and society, and the need to listen to Indigenous perspectives. Rebecca Wilson outlined the role of Research Ireland in supporting research, education, and public engagement, highlighting the importance of hope in enabling action. Trish Morgan addressed the artificial nature of disciplinary silos and the need for collaboration across sectors to respond to the climate crisis.
