In this video, we solve a comprehensive numerical problem from Strength of Materials regarding a steel block subjected to axial stresses in three dimensions. We use Generalized Hooke's Law to determine the strain and change in dimensions in the X, Y, and Z directions. The exact question is as follows:
Q. A block of steel (150 x200 x 250) mm is subjected to axial stresses shown in figure. Find the change in dimensions of block and change in volume. Also find G and K. Take, Es = 200 GN/m^2 and 1/m = 0.30.
