Here’s a nice long segment with some lighthearted, feel-good songs, in case you find yourself stuck at home for some reason and need something comforting to watch. 😊

The Yellow Balloon with the “mysterious” drummer Luke Yoo (Chip & Ernie would be proud) have the #37 song on the Billboard Hot 100 today. “Yellow Balloon”, the song, will peak at #25 in 3 weeks and Yellow Balloon, the band, will perform the song on “Shebang” next week (May 6th) at Anaheim Stadium.

“The Happening” is at #8 today, will peak at #1 next month, and is the #1 song on Bandstand for the 1st of 2 weeks in a row (kudos to the producers for picking it as #1 a month early). This is the last Supremes song with Florence Ballard in the group. For their next single, “Reflections”, they will be renamed “Diana Ross and the Supremes” and Cindy Birdsong will replace Ballard.

“Casino Royale” is the theme song to the satirical James Bond movie released 2 weeks ago and is at #39 today.

Brenton Wood just performed his brand new “The Oogum Boogum Song”. This performance is posted in a couple of places on YT. Surprisingly (at least to me as it’s used in so many TV shows and movies) ”…Oogum Boogum..” only made it to #34 on Billboard. Photos from this appearance on Bandstand were used for the back of Wood’s “Oogum Boogum” album released later this year.
