Today we take you one a journey back in time to find out how the Jefferson's brought Rum back to Whitehaven in Cumbria. The story tells of brutal slavery and the tropical rainforest of Antigua being turned into huge sugar plantations transforming the island forever.
The Jefferson's started producing Rum in 1785 from their estate in Antigua and this rum is the oldest label in the UK. The Jefferson's supplied fine wine and spirit to the White Star Line - the owners of the Titanic. Undoubtedly bottles of this fine rum are still laying in the dark icy depths of the Titanic on the ocean bed!
The Rum Story experience is one that is enjoyed by - children for its pirates and grizzly history and adults for a tipple of the Dark Spirit at the end of the tour.
