Описание: This seminar by Professor Mark Tester highlights how one-third of the world’s food is produced under irrigation, a system increasingly challenged by over-exploitation of water resources and global environmental change. The talk explores plant traits likely to contribute to salinity tolerance with the aim of improving crop resilience, including the development of new tomato rootstocks and a genetic approach to stack tolerance traits to create strong hybrid allotetraploid rootstocks. It also discusses how research outcomes are delivered through RedSea LLC (now Iyris LLC), where engineering and plant science are combined to develop and apply saltwater-based agricultural systems.
