Russia is preparing to subvert democracy across Europe, Moldova's president Maia Sandu has warned after Russia's failed attempt to thwart her election.
With elections due across Europe in 2026, the region needs to do more to inoculate itself against Russian interference, the Moldovan president told The Telegraph.
"The target is not Moldova. Moldova is just the testing ground. The target is Europe, democratic Europe, the entire continent... Europe should learn from us, from countries that are on the front line in the fight for democracy."
"Democracy on the continent is in danger," she warned.
