എത്രയോ യുദ്ധങ്ങൾ അതിജീവിച്ച, കാലപ്പഴക്കത്തിന്റെ കോട്ടങ്ങൾ തട്ടാത്ത ഒരു ഫ്രഞ്ച് വാസ്തുശില്പ നിർമ്മിതി. അറബിക്കടലിന്റെ തീരത്ത് ചെങ്കല്ലിൽ കെട്ടിപ്പൊക്കിയ ഈ കോട്ട ഹൈദറിന്റെയും ടിപ്പുവിന്റെയും പടയോട്ടങ്ങളെ തോൽപ്പിച്ചു കളഞ്ഞ തന്ത്രപ്രധാന കെട്ടിടമാണ്. തലശ്ശേരിയുടെ ഇന്നത്തെ നഗര വൽക്കരണത്തിൽ സിംഹഭാഗം സoഭാവന ചെയ്ത ചരിത്ര നിർമിതിയാണ് തലശ്ശേരി കോട്ട. പത്തു മീറ്ററിൽപരം ഉയരത്തിൽ നിർമ്മിച്ച ഈ കോട്ടക്കുള്ളിൽ ശത്രുക്കളെ പൂട്ടിയിടാൻ പാകത്തിന് നിലവറകളും ജയിലും ഒരുക്കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. കടലിൽ നിന്നും കോട്ടക്കകത്തേക്കൊരു തുരങ്ക പാത നാവികരായിരുന്ന ഫ്രഞ്ജുകാരുടെ കരവിരുത് തന്നെ.
The Thalasseri fort over looking the sea, raises to the height of ten meters and it is a key attraction of the town. It was built out of laterite blocks with high round holed walls .The small redoubts on most of the out playing sand beach long since disappeared, but Thalassery fort is in fair state of preservation. The square fort, with its massive walls, strong flanking bastions, secret tunnels to the sea and intricately carved huge doors, is an imposing structure. The underground jails are capable of accommodating a large number of inmates. A light house marks the site of an old redoubt still capable of guiding sailors. The fort was once the nucleus of Thalassery's development. Thalassery was also famous for the cricket match; played between the England team and local teams in the town near the seashore.
