STORYLINE:
Pakistani Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz held talks with his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh in New Delhi on Wednesday to review the ongoing peace process between the two neighbouring nations.
Aziz is in the Indian capital to attend a summit meeting of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) that began on Tuesday.
India and Pakistan have a history of hostile relations, mainly because of their dispute over Kashmir, a Himalayan region divided between both countries and claimed in its entirety by both.
The neighbouring countries have been to war twice over Kashmir, once in 1947 and then again in 1965.
But relations between the two countries have been showing signs of improvement since 2004, when their leaders began a series of negotiations to help resolve the Kashmir issue and other disputes.
Aziz is due to leave New Delhi on Wednesday night after attending the closing ceremony of the summit.
South Asian Association of Regional Cooperation, or SAARC, consists of India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, the Maldives, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan, which formally became a member on Tuesday.
