No title. Yachtsman Alec Rose returns from his round-the-world solo voyage, Portsmouth, Hampshire. Colour item.
Various shots crowds waiting by sea for Rose's return. Zoom into L/S of Rose's boat, "Lively Lady" coming towards port, surrounded by flotilla of smaller vessels. Various shots of the flotilla coming in, an aeroplane flies above. C/U Rose waving from "Lively Lady". C/U bow of yacht. More shots flotilla coming in, intercut with more shots of Rose waving. Rose drinks from a beer tankard. L/S launch with Mrs. Rose aboard. C/U Mrs Rose waving and pointing. M/S Rose lifting his tankard in salute. More shots flotilla coming in to harbour. People on smaller vessels hold banners welcoming Rose. "Lively Lady" sails past crowds on shore. Rose waves as "Lively Lady" nears the finish. L/S Naval launch. "Lively Lady" comes alongside, a rope is tossed from the launch. L/S harbour. Various shots crowds cheering and waving banners. Zoom in as Naval launch brings Rose to jetty. Rose steps on to jetty and waves to crowd. He walks up jetty, he is joined by his wife.
Rose shakes hands with Lord Mayor and Mayoress of Portsmouth. L/S of dais. C/U Alec and Mrs Rose reading telegram from Queen. Crowds are still waving and cheering. The Roses kiss and then get into open topped Rolls Royce. Various shots Rolls Royce driving through crowd lined streets. Tracking shot Guildhall. L/S as Rolls arrives at Guildhall. L/S crowd. M/S Alec walking up steps. Alec gives speech into microphone. C/U Alec at microphone, wearing yachting cap and blazer. Various shots Alec at helm of "Lively Lady".
