In this video, I walk you step-by-step through how to replace the crankshaft position sensor (P0335 code) on a 2011-2014 Kia Sorento, compatible with both 2.4 L and 3.5 L engines. Some early 2015 models may also use this same procedure.
If your Sorento won’t start, stalls, or idles rough, there’s a strong chance your crankshaft sensor has failed. I’ll show you the exact location, the right tools, and how to complete this repair in about 15 minutes — saving you hundreds versus taking it to a shop.
Tools Needed:
• 10 mm socket (¼-inch drive flex head ratchet)
• Jack + jack stands for safety
• Penetrating oil
• Small extension (optional)
• Flat-head screwdriver or trim removal tool
This repair applies to:
✅ 2011 – 2015 Kia Sorento (2.4 L & 3.5 L)
✅ 2011 – 2015 Kia Sportage (2.4 L)
✅ 2011 – 2014 Hyundai Sonata / Santa Fe (2.4 L engines sharing same sensor)
Whether you’re a DIYer or an experienced mechanic, this walkthrough will get your Kia running again fast.
