Описание: Join me for a walk through Stonehaven & I'll show you around! Whether you're fancing a Scottish Seaside holiday, or you just fancy a nosey, it's my pleasure to show you around this wee coastal gem.

Stonehaven is a town on the East coast of Scotland, just 2 hours north of Edinburgh. It's well connected by bus, train and car and it's surrounded by bounds of countryside, forest and coast. In the curved bay, sits the town of Stonehaven, with Cowie village to the North and the Harbour and Dunnottar Castle to the South. There's bundles to do for tourists (kids, adults, outdoorsy folk and foodies alike).

I start this video at the Golf Course, on the North side of town. The Golf Course is close by the train tracks (but not the train station, I'll point that out later) with a perfect view spanning over the town and all the way to Dunnottar Castle and the War Memorial Monument. We head down the coast road towards the 'Fun side of town' (the leisure centre, skate park, swimming pools, tennis courts, bowls, quoiting, putting) at the Elizabeth Park. Passing the Caravan Club Site Park, we head briefly over to Cowie Village, the best place for rockpooling and fossil hunting.

Heading over to the beach front, we meet the famous Aunty Betty's Ice cream. P.s. ask for the sauce on the bottom and all the toppings. It tastes better that way! Next we walk up the Cowie river to walk towards Baird Park and then the Burns Memorial Gardens. The gardens (although they look like someones private front garden) are public. Extra points if you can spot the chimney. The gardens used to be a brewery and the back walls still stand. The gardens are built above the cellars, so don't dig too far down! Heading the scenic route to the town square, we pass back over Cowie Bridge (and the site of the salmon netting station). Plenty of fishing in the Cowie (or so I've heard).

As we walk to the Stonehaven Town Square, it's Feein' Market Day (the first Saturday in June every year). We walk around the square, nip up the Carron River, and along the Promenade to the Harbour. After a jump down into the sand, pointing out the Tolbooth Museum and Seafood Restaurant, we wander towards the old High Street. The site of the World Famouse Fireballs Festival at Hogmanay (that's New Year's Eve, 31st December). The local volunteers (with the Fireballs Association) make home-made fireballs. They light them on fire and swing them around their heads while marching up and down the High Street. Around 10,000 people come to watch. It's FREE but get there in plenty time as numbers are capped.

Heading up to Dunnottar Castle (by Car) we briefly stop at a beautiful view point halfway up the Bervie Braes (that's on the cliffs looking over the Harbour). The War Memorial is on the way to the Castle and in 2023 it was re-dedicated to the town, with 100 pipers and drummers marching from town up to the Monument. Dunnottar Castle is our final stop, with breathtaking views of the cliff-top ruin-castle, it's my favourite place, and most recommended attraction in town. If you only do one thing on your trip to Stonehaven, make it Dunnottar Castle.
