Every headline about the Trump-China summit is telling you what happened. Prof. Jiang Xueqin is telling you what it means — and what comes next.

In this lecture, Prof. Jiang Xueqin cuts through the noise surrounding Trump's Beijing visit to offer a clear, historically grounded prediction: a US-China "Grand Bargain" is not just likely — it is structurally inevitable. And the real negotiation has very little to do with tariffs, AI chips, or military posturing.

Drawing on game theory and the historical parallel of Nixon's 1972 opening of China, Prof. Jiang maps out the actual terms of what this deal will look like. China wants access to Nvidia semiconductors to fuel its AI sector. The US wants China to open its financial sector to American firms like BlackRock and Blackstone — allowing them to sell financial instruments directly to Chinese consumers. The $1 trillion Chinese investment in US manufacturing, widely reported in the press, is not a sign of Chinese dominance. Prof. Jiang argues it is a sign of dependency.

Along the way, Prof. Jiang reads the diplomatic signals that most analysts miss: why Scott Bessant — the Treasury Secretary, not the Secretary of State — is leading the US delegation; why China gave Iran's foreign minister only a low-level meeting while Putin gave him 90 minutes; and why the AI war, the semiconductor sanctions, and the warship deployments are, in his view, theater.

This is speculative analysis and Prof. Jiang invites debate. But the framework — game theory applied to the structural interests of both powers — produces specific, testable predictions about where this relationship is heading.

Topics covered:
– Why Trump's Beijing visit mirrors Nixon's 1972 China opening
– The specific terms Prof. Jiang predicts for the US-China Grand Bargain
– What the Manis AI block and Nvidia chip ban really signal
– Why Scott Bessant leading the delegation matters
– China's $1 trillion US investment — dependency or strategy?
– Iran, Belt and Road, and why China's geopolitical independence is limited
– How game theory outperforms news coverage for predicting US-China outcomes
