🌜 Night 19: SON OF DRACULA
Son of Dracula is a tale of romance, betrayal, and repetitive boredom brought about by a confused mess of character motivations, continuously showing the audience something and then telling us what we just saw, or telling us about something that happened off camera even if that thing is important to the story, all tied together by a complete lack of purpose. The ambiguous male relative of Count Dracula, referred to as “Son” in the film’s title for obvious promotional purposes, moves to New Orleans and makes a bride of the daughter of a wealthy plantation owner, killing him and marrying her to quickly rise to a position of power. However, she’s actually still in love with her childhood boyfriend, conspiring with him to use Dracula to first become immortal and then destroy him so that they can be wealthy and powerful and in love forever so the guy burns Dracula’s coffin so he has nowhere to go when the sun comes out, and then he dies...
