The Summer I Turned Pretty fans in need of a new obsession may want to check out Netflix's Finding Her Edge.

Set to drop in just a few hours, the new YA adaptation has drawn comparisons to a few popular dramas, including HBO's Heated Rivalry. Though it features an ice-based sport like the hockey show, Finding Her Edge is better suited to the TSITP crowd.

Just like the Prime Video drama, it follows young adults navigating the messiness of first loves, alongside family drama.

What is Finding Her Edge about?

Created by Jeff Norton, producer of Netflix's Geek Girl, Finding Her Edge follows three Russo sisters, heirs to a struggling figure skating dynasty.

Along with juggling their family's legacy, the sisters find themselves wrapped up in complicated romances.

The synopsis teases: "As middle sister, seventeen-year-old Adriana trains for the World Championships with new partner Brayden, while still harbouring feelings for her first love and former partner, Freddie.

"Her life becomes complicated when she and Brayden pretend to be a couple off the ice so they can land a sponsorship to keep the financially struggling Russo rink afloat."

When does Finding Her Edge come out?

Finding Her Edge premieres on Netflix this Thursday, January 22. All eight episodes of the first season will be available to stream at once.

UK fans can tune into the show from 8AM GMT, not midnight as you may assume.

Canadian actress Madelyn Keys leads the cast as Adriana Russo. Finding Her Edge could become Keys' biggest role to date as she only has a handful of TV credits, including a supporting role in Prime Video's Three Pines.

Cale Ambrozic plays Adriana's fake boyfriend and on-ice partner Brayden Elliot. Teen drama fans will recognise Ambrozic as Blake Beaumont from hit thriller We Were Liars.

The leading ensemble also features Percy Jackson and the Olympians star Olly Atkins in the role of Adriana's first love, Freddie O'Connell.
