From Camp Buko’s 2022 summer event in Loveland, Colorado. Presented by Steve Mount, BG (ret.), and Jim McDonnell MSgt (ret.).
In this training session, our team presented to our group common flaws with radio communication in Hollywood (Hacksaw Ridge, Monuments Men, and Kelly’s Heroes used as examples), reviewed radio equipment used in WWII, and a brief overview of technical radio function and nomenclature. The training in this video is not intended to be comprehensive by any means - but provides a very high level demonstration of how radios and their operators communicated during the war.
About Camp Buko - Camp Buko is an annual living history event in northern Colorado. We are a small group of living historians with a passion for promoting education, preserving WWII history, and honoring those who served. Our groups’ diverse membership as veterans, teachers, and historians brings a wealth of knowledge for us to learn, teach, and appreciate WWII history.
