Stepover apples are a type of espalier performed on super dwarf apple trees. Only the lowest branches are kept so that the apple trees form a low fence/hedge-like structure. Mine were grafted trees from Heritage Fruit Trees (link below). They have a wide selection. Apples also have specific pollination requirements, so also have a look prior to buying apples (link below).
This video documents the first 6 months of my apple trees from winter to summer (southern hemisphere). They are now in ground, and I cannot wait to see how they progress!
