The Prahova valley is a touristy area in the southern Carpathians, particularly in winter. It's nestled between the Bucegi and Baiu mountain ranges and the main draw is skiing in winter, and hiking and adventure sports in the summer.
A number of small mountain towns are spread throughout the valley; Predeal, Azuga, Bușteni, & Sinaia. The valley is accessible by train, but also a pretty short drive from the major city and Brașov.
Bușteni is also home to the Cantacuzino "Castle", which is more like a large villa. Originally owned by the Cantacuzino family, it was seized by the Communist regime in the late 1940s and used to house tuberculosis patients.
