Federal bill could transform how Stockton police fight crime
Stockton police could soon receive more than $1 million in federal funding to build a real-time crime center designed to help officers respond to emergencies and solve crimes faster. The funding is included in a bipartisan bill that has passed the Senate and is awaiting approval from President Donald Trump. The proposed real-time crime center would serve as a centralized hub where law enforcement can analyze video, data, and other information in real time. Supporters say this technology is increasingly necessary as modern policing relies on growing volumes of digital evidence. Rep. Josh Harder, who represents Stockton in Congress, said similar centers in Sacramento and Modesto have already improved police response and investigations.
