We arrived about 7 am, got us back into the room about 7:30am. On the machine by 8am. Lots of nausea in the morning on the ride to the transplant clinic. They said the "mozobil" will cause that. The RN gave me my neupogen injections not long after I was connected to the machine.
The drew about a 55 gallon drum of blood to send off for testing.
This video shows the stem cell collection process via apheresis. Hooked up to the machine right at 6 hours.
The goal was 3.5 million stem cells at a minimum. They only got 1.5 million. In a less than common move, the MD recommended I get another full dose of neupogen today. Joy. Plus the mozobil injection. Mozobil makes things go "on the move," specifically, stem cells. But it doesn't stop at stem cells, includes the intestinal tract.
Oh boy, I haven't had this much nausea since I don't know when. Sick as dog, green around the gill, all the way home. I didn't make it home before trying to fill up the barf bag several times.
This video was filmed on our 27th wedding anniversary. Not our best celebration ever, that is for sure.
The RN states each day will normally see less and less stem cells collected. I will return on Friday (today) to the transplant clinic for another day of apheresis. Then sitting around to wait and see how many stem cells they got. Then another neupogen and mozobil injection so I can go to St Paul's hospital on Saturday to get my 3rd day of collections. We anticipate reaching the goal by Saturday.
