📍 How to get here & what to do
Take the Skyride gondola up the mountain – you might even spot the bears below during the ride. From downtown Vancouver, hop on bus 236 from Lonsdale Quay (via the SeaBus from Waterfront Station) or the seasonal Grouse Mountain Shuttle from Canada Place.
🎟️ At the top
Choose from hiking trails, ziplining, lumberjack shows, a wildlife talk, and of course, visiting the grizzlies’ expansive habitat.
🌱 Why this place matters
• 🐻 Home to two orphaned grizzlies, Coola and Grinder, rescued in 2001 after losing their mothers.
• 🌲 They cannot survive in the wild, but here they roam freely in a safe, forested habitat.
• ❤️ The refuge focuses on conservation awareness, education, and habitat research for endangered species.
✨ Fun fact: Coola and Grinder have hibernated here for over 20 winters! Visitors cannot approach them, but the refuge ensures they have space to forage, explore, and live as naturally as possible.
