UK serial killer Colin Pitchfork raped and murdered two teen girls and was convicted of both crimes in January of 1988. He has been out on parole and back in prison for violating the parole and is still incarcerated as of 2025.

What led to his arrest? How was this first use of DNA in a mass screening a factor? Why wasn't Pitchfork identified sooner? Did criminal profiling play any part in the police investigation? Why was he paroled and what considerations should there be made in paroling a criminal like this?
