There are many cameras sold as "Not working or for parts only", but as you can see in this video, that's not always the case. I discuss principles of diagnosis and how I got 3 cameras back to 100% functionality. If you have something that's broken, take a breather and use some of my techniques to evaluate the problem before trashing the old one and getting new.
