Blessings: Devotees worship her to receive happiness, peace, and the ability to move forward with renewed purpose in life.
Navratri: As the eighth form of Durga worshipped on the Ashtami Tithi (eighth day) of Navratri, she embodies the power of perseverance and devotion.

Origin: Gauri was the daughter of King Himavan and Queen Mainavati.
Penance: To win Shiva's love, she performed severe penance, which resulted in her body becoming dark.
Restoration: Lord Shiva, pleased with her devotion, blessed her, and the sacred Ganga river washed away the dirt, transforming her skin to its radiant, white form. This is why she is known as Mahagauri.
