I know that no one can expect to be fully understood at all times. We are too varied and changing to expect that from another human outside of our head and body. I don’t even understand myself sometimes. With that being said, it is incredible to see how some of the people closest to us can straight up miss us. Growing up trained me to take care of myself and not burden others with trouble I am internally and externally negotiating. Unfortunately, this has trained others to perpetually believe I am ok and will be ok, no matter what’s at hand. And, because I am, in fact, not always ok, I know I will have to practice saying it…practice saying it when I’m struggling and yes, ask for help. Here’s to more of our “insides outside” and to being a good friend, a better friend.
