Hello neighbor, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look at the Superwinch integrated off-road winch rated at 12,000 pounds. Today we have this installed on a 2022 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, and this one is a Rubicon, which works really well with the steel bumpers. We'll able to use a Bulldog winch mounting plate to get this in and this is a really good looking winch. And also being rated at 12,000 pounds means pretty much anything you throw at this Jeep it's gonna be able to handle that. Just because this is on a Jeep doesn't mean that it has to be. You can mount this on a number of different things, whether it be a trailer or a truck.

Now it's gonna use this standard 10 inch x 4-1/2 inch mounting. So as long as you have something to bolt that up to securely, this is gonna be able to work. Now, while we we inchesre able to get a specific kit for our Jeep to work with the steel bumpers, if you're planning on putting this on something else, not to worry, there's a few different options that you can do. Getting an aftermarket bumper, a lot of them are gonna be winch rated and winch prepped so they're ready to bolt in. Other options are gonna include getting a front hitch on your vehicle, which is gonna allow you to get the mounting bracket for that on the front hitch and still have that winch up front.

Now this is a heavy duty application. Again, it's rated at 12,000, so some serious off-roading is gonna be kind of in the ticket for this thing and it's gonna be synthetic rope, which is really nice. Your other options is cable. I like the synthetic rope because God forbid it was to fail. This isn't going to snap like a cable and potentially become dangerous.

It's just simply going to break. But this is rated extremely strong, so I really don't think that's ever gonna be an issue. And fully extended this is gonna give you 85 foot, so you should be able to find a good mounting point to be able to winch up to and get yourself out of a sticky situation. And when you're looking for that point to attach to an anchor, it's pretty nice here. You got a hand strap, which is included, but you can disengage this by just pulling up on this lever, which is easily accessible.

And once it's in the disengaged position, it makes it super easy for me to just pull this out as fast as I need to. That way you don't have to wait for that motor to unwind it. And when it comes to operating your winch, it comes with two different options. There's one that you can plug into the side of the winch, which is actually a really nice controller here. You have 12 foot of cable. So that's really gonna allow a spotter to be able to use the winch, or you could even drape this into your windshield and use it. And this is also nice too, 'cause not only does it just plug in here and you can use it, but there's also two buttons that come in handy when it's nighttime. The first one is gonna be a flashlight that's on the controller, which doesn't seem all that important, but when you're out trying to find a good point to mount or see what you're doing, that's pretty nice to have. You also have a drum light that's going to illuminate under here, and that way you can actually see what's going on, make sure everything's working out well. Great part though, is if you want to not be attached to the vehicle and still operate the winch, no problem. This wireless controller, you just hold these buttons for three seconds, it's going to kick that on and it's got a nice clip you can mount on your pocket so that way if you're just kind of walking along with it, you can still adjust it at the push of the button. The heavy duty performance is really coming in from the motor that it's using. It's a 6 horsepower, so it's got definitely some power there. It's gonna be also nice and protected. The whole thing has a nice just overall package where everything's pretty well, you know, not gonna get exposed to those elements, which is really nice. And this motor's also a really good feature of it because it'll respond to any increase in load. It'll actually throttle it down and that way you're not gonna run the risk of overheating it. Now out of the box, this is exactly how ours came. We didn't have to modify anything. But the great part is, is it does have some customization available to really custom fit your needs.
