This Grade 2 chorale piece for wind band was composed by band director Markus J. Heneka. The piece celebrates the enduring friendship between Switzerland and Germany. The main theme is the "Schweizer Psalm" (Swiss anthem), framed by motifs from the "Deutschlandlied" (German anthem).
Markus dedicated the piece to Musikgesellschaft Frauenkappelen and Jugendmusik Bern-Bümpliz to foster their ongoing friendship with Musikverein Neuthard, where Markus continues to serve as a young band instructor and conductor for over 25 years. 'Salvete in Helvetia' was premiered at Musikgesellschaft Frauenkappelen's spring concert on 26 April 2025 by young musicians from both societies.
