How To: Cutting Ghost Layers

Technical breakdown.⁠
•⁠
Separate top into quads/ stop at parietal.(wrap the length and put it away).⁠
•⁠
Fringe⁠
Take a triangle from corner of the eye on both sides. Elevate to 45 degrees, direct to middle, cut square .⁠

Crown⁠
guide: take a small triangle at center top.⁠
At cheek bone, cut guide. Try Chin, eyebrow, lip also.⁠
•⁠
Take back left quad, Over-elevate to opposite corner front and cut to guide length.⁠
•⁠
For each step, Keep guide out. after you cut, put that quad away.⁠
•⁠
Back right quad goes to front left corner. Always use the guide at center middle. (Don’t cut it shorter each time you cut a quad.⁠

Top⁠
Standing on the right, bring hair from the left side to⁠
Max elevation on left(opposite)side. I cut at square angle but you can do different angles for different lengths.⁠
Repeat on left side. Directing to opposite side at max elevation.⁠

I used a scissor that you like a standard shear but it makes a point cut effect. Mentioned below. 👇🏼 but you can point cut very deep to really get ghostly layers. I like to keep my lines pretty blunt though. Get the lightness from the elevation.⁠

Last. To read the weight, take the section up to elevation, cut blunt and it’s too heavy, then take that section back up and point cut it! Don’t do whole cut and try to separate back out. Treat the quad as a brick and build your house one brick at a time. In a manner of speaking. 🏠⁠
Finger angles are unlimited in combination with different lengths. Play!!!⁠
