Описание: The violent streets of New York in the 1800s were dangerous after dark. Crime, debauchery, saloons and the chance to get kidnapped (shanghaiing) were ever present - and it didn't take much for drunken arguments to turn into battles and riots, which the police struggled to control. This was the 'Gangs of New York' era city that one journalist decided to report on (after dark) when he accompanied a police detective on a visit to some of the city's worst criminal dens to meet some of its most infamous characters. This is his genuine account of life on the notorious streets of New York.
