On the Friday before Super Bowl Sunday, a few hundred fans were treated to an invite-only concert. Counting Crows set the tone and Green Day closed with an explosive, electric set.
Green Day kicked off with “American Idiot,” just as Governor Gavin Newsom arrived in VIP, stoic and heavily guarded.
Never shy on the mic, Billie Joe Armstrong took aim at ICE, Trump, and even the band’s own corporate sponsors throughout the night.
