A groundswell of local interest and concern prompts the move from village offices to Wauconda High School for this first public village meeting after the CLCJAWA group voted 8-1 to move forward on Lake Michigan water without Wauconda.

A previously relatively quiet Wauconda Village Board unanimously speaks out strongly regarding their frustrations at not being properly and accurately informed regarding the project by Mayor Frank Bart. Mayor Bart repeatedly defends the process, while simultaneously accepting responsibility, acknowledging poor communication, and claiming that all information he received was shared.

Many village residents and business owners shared public comments regarding their serious concerns regarding the failure to build a relationship of trust and respect with CLCJAWA as a foundation for approval. Lake County Board members Nick Sauer and Bonnie Thomson Carter also spoke to their desire to support Wauconda with Lake Michigan water, while sharing their concerns that the door to participation through CLCJAWA may be very difficult to reopen.
