Cö shu Nie songs are... very out of the ordinary. Blasting bass lines at record tempo's, song structures that change constantly and rhythm changes that cannot be followed unless you sit down and write them out.

When Cö shu Nie's vocalist perfomed the song while accompanying herself on piano, she brought down the tempo from franctic to ballad and the song became a lot more structured. She even changed some of the 6/8 and 5/8 bars to 9/8 and 8/8 bars, increasing the rhythmic complexity. The result is this unique arrangement, that I followed as closely as possible for our cover.

After we recorded the piano/vocal version, we really wanted to record a version with an ensemble. Sticking to the original wasn't working due to its incredible dissonance and I've never rewritten a full arrangement so often in my life. I landed on this final arrangement, which I think strikes a good balance between consonance and deep complexity. Please make sure to check out the bonus ensemble track below!
