Regent Life Assurance welcomes Xola Ntshinga to their scholar patrol safety drive...

A chilly June Winter’s day soon became nice 'n toasty for a Worcester primary school with the arrival of Regent Life Assurance, their fun-filled educational initiative and the warm smiles of SuperSport rugby presenter, Xola Ntshinga.

With the presence and input of Active Education, the Department of Basic Education and the Department of Road Safety, Regent Life Assurance continued their countrywide investment in educating 20,000 children a month on the important aspects of road safety.

The day was filled with giveaways, fun, song, dance and informative tips on how to save our children’s lives on the increasingly busy roads of South Africa. Regent Life Assurance introduced the Road Safety and Scholar Patrol programme in 2015 and since then have interacted with 538,440 learners and distributed 640 scholar patrol kits, 1,280 triangles, 1,280 stop signs and 6,400 caps.

During this time, they have also painted more than 6.5kms of pedestrian crossings across South Africa!

An indication of Regent’s Life Assurance’s commitment to the safety of South Africa’s children came from Chris Botha, General manager Regent Life Assurance... “Our children are our future. To protect them is to protect our future.”

To maintain the momentum of the Scholar Patrol, partnerships are vital, which was summed up by Bruce Smuts of Active Education, saying, “Regent are changing lives every day, and without a vision like Regent’s, things like Scholar Patrol just don’t happen.”

Thanks to Regent Life Assurance’s generosity, the NGK Oefen Primary School in Worcester were also the happy recipients of sports kit including soccer and rugby balls, cricket bats and netballs. Boy and girl vests and bibs, water bottles, kit bags and training cones made up the huge pile of goodies to ensure they never forget this day!

This ongoing education from Regent Life Assurance at grass roots level makes a meaningful contribution to the road safety education of children countrywide, and the latest activation in Worcester proves Regent are getting the word out beyond all major centres and in doing so are changing lives and saving lives.
