While the world marks the New Year on January 1st, for us Gaudiya Vaisnavas our real New Year begins on Gaura Purnima. And as the world celebrates with fireworks and partying, we know that the real celebration is the chanting of the holy names. We share a wonderful pastime called “Cat in the Basket” that Srila Prabhupada often told to illustrate how we need to keep to our tradition.
