Columbia Street Waterfront District is a small, gentrifying, upper middle class neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York. It's located in northwest Brooklyn and borders with Brooklyn Heights, Cobble Hill, Carroll Gardens, and Red Hook. Columbia Street District is surrounded by the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway and the harborside dockyards. There are row houses, low-rise apartment buildings, nice small parks and community gardens. The Lower Manhattan skyline is a good view to see from Columbia Street.

The street, Columbia Street, stretches from the neighborhood's northbound next to Atlantic Avenue, to Red Hook's Amazon Warehouse (DYNY Amazon) on 640 Columbia Street. There's the Brooklyn ferry terminal there, where you can take a ferry ride to Pier 11 (Wall Street) or Governors Island. I actually went to Governors Island once when I was 7, probably in 2013 (7 turning 8 at the time).

The neighborhood of Columbia Street District first formed in 1957 when the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway (BQE) was newly built. The expressway bridge/highway would make Columbia Street cut off from Carroll Gardens and Cobble Hill. It was once an area with empty storefronts, empty tenants, 33 buildings got demolished between the 1970s and 80s. In 1984, an urban renewal project was completed with new houses sold out quickly to new residents coming from Manhattan and Downtown Brooklyn. In the 2000s, there were new bakeries, restaurants, and businesses that opened in Columbia Street District. It was already gentrifying pretty fast along with neighboring communities. The district is one of Brooklyn's small neighborhoods, only being 22 blocks long. This neighborhood has hipsters/yuppies, urban professionals, upper middle class residents, and one of the largest percentage of same-sex, LGBTQ relationships anywhere in New York City.
