Adding Paint to this Contemporary Art object | Wooden Cup with Pyrography, Acrylics and Paint Pens

Описание: Some progress shots showing how I created the painterly elements on a part of my latest artwork ‘All Our Colours Combined’. I used Pyrography (the art of wood-burning), acrylic paints, paint pens, a water-based stain and varnish and a satin polyurethane coat on found wooden crockery and cutlery. Fun fact- this is the first time I’ve used polyurethane on one of my mixed media artworks and I have to say I love it. Think I’ll use it again but suspect it might work a little better on art objects such as this piece than on two dimensional artworks… more experimenting to be had!

The artwork is a part of a larger collaboration made alongside artists @meimeihodgkinson , @teenyfletcher and @jennyrutsch ‘The Dining Table’ and is currently on display at ‘The Annex’ gallery in Werribee, Melbourne.

The exhibition is the outcome of a @wundergym program which explored the themes of place and community, with an emphasis on collaboration and curation. Three groups of artists (of which I’m proud to be one!) curated 3 exhibitions in one space.
