What is an EV Ready Plan and How Does the rebate Program work with BC Hydro?

I'm doing a quick video to share with you what an EV Ready Plan is and how that will help you here in Lower Mainland. What is an EV Ready plan? An EV Ready Plan, is short for an Electric Vehicle Ready Plan. It is a plan put together by an accredited BC Hydro Power smart Alliance contractor, like MJR electric, that is subsidized by BC Hydro and the government of BC. This plan includes having a power assessment completed on your building, whether you're a multi-unit strata, condo complex, or a small business, you are eligible to apply. In order to get an EV Ready Plan, a contractor, like MJR Electric, is hired by the business owner or strata to come in and complete a detailed power assessment.

We will do a comparison with the BC Hydro 12-month history data, this information will help us see what you have available for electrical capacity. We use the BC Hydro information and provide you with detailed power assessment and infrastructure cost. All of this information is written in a plan that we provide to BC Hydro. Once you receive your assessment and plan you, then take your EV Ready Plan and you apply it to the BC Hydro incentives. Remember, the EV ready plan is covered up to 75% to maximum of $3,000.

This means if you are charged $3,000 for the EV Ready Plan, 75% of it would be incentivized by BC Hydro. In total, you would only have to pay for $750 dollars. Once BC Hydro approves the plan, now you are available for the next step of incentives which is up to $97,000 for your building infrastructure costs to get the chargers, the distribution, the panel, and remaining electrical that is needed to create EV charging in your building.

For anybody who's looking to have an EV charger installed in a condo, multi-unit residential building, or a business, an EV Ready Plan is what you want to do. This plan will provide you with all the information that you need to take to the strata or business to get the most amount of the incentives that you can apply for through the BC Hydro Incentive Programs.
The last thing I'll leave you with is not just anybody in BC can do these EV Ready Plans, you have to be accredited by BC Hydro and there Smart Alliance Program. We at MJR Electric are accredited to do these power assessments and EV Ready Plans.
